The article presents a comparative analysis of two distinct rural settlement systems typical of the southern and northern parts of the Nizhny Novgorod region: small and large settlements. For a more detailed discussion of these systems is given a description of a typical district in each of the parts dealing with their population distribution "framework" of rural settlements and population size, the impact of the conditions and factors in the formation of population settlement system.

Abstract
Тhe article is about the one of the important the ontological toposes in the Russian literature - of the topos of the river. The author makes a conclusion that the artistic comprehension of the the river as myphologema of the national and personal destiny of the writers of the ХХ century. Even the essays of the autobiographical character raised the narration on the level of the ontological generalizations and was correlated with the ancient ideas about the sacred relations of the man and the world. The objects of the research are the texts of M.Osorgin, p.S.Bulgacov, Vs.Ivanov.

The article focuses on the existence of The Gothic revival and The Arthurian revival in Victorian England. Оn the basis of Russian and English-language historiography the author makes a conclusion that The Arthurian revival, prepared by The Gothic revival, had not only the historical-cultural, but also the political aspect, helping to create a state ideology that could unite the nation in Victorian England.

Abstract
This article examines the ethnic stereotypes that largely determine the character of intercultural contacts. Thanks to the analysis of precedent texts, jokes, you can find a reflection of national-cultural specificity of a linguistic and cultural environment, to compare different national types from the point of view of nature, disposition, worldview. Ethnic stereotypes contribute to the emergence of ethnic sympathies and antipathies, as well as distribution of rough, inaccurate characteristics that affect the intercultural communications.

Abstract
It was studied the ecological structure of vertebrate animals in the area of road effect on the Federal highways, where the traffic amounted 6500 vehicles a day. It was found that the road effect zone is up to 400 meters to the left and to the right from the road in forest ecosystems, and it is up to 1200 meters in the meadow ecosystems. It was revealed that the road effect zone provides the maximum negative impacts on the inactive animals and the sedentary animals. It was noted that the majority of environmental indicators of communities of the vertebrate animals in the road effect zone, is lower significantly than the indicators on the control plot.

The article focuses on the problem of interpretation of the image of king Arthur, the legendary leader of Britons, during the Tudor reign. Particular attention is paid to the debates on this issue of the two court authors - Polydor Vergil and John Leland. Оn the basis of English-language historiography the author makes a conclusion that the ruling dynasty needed works of both authors, and they therefore gained widespread popularity and support from the state.
