FEATURES OF THE MODERN PAGAN WORLDVIEW (ACCORDING TO FIELD RESEARCH)

Abstract

From 17 to 23 of June 2014 the members of research laboratory "New religious movements in modern Russia and Europe" of Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University of Kozma Minin conducted a questionnaire survey among the representatives Russian pagan community who gathered at the celebration of Kupala Day. Kupala feast held in the open field (the so-called "Red Meadow") near the village Ignatievskaya Maloyaroslavetsky region Kaluga region. 230 people took part in the survey.

"Questionnaire number two», which is discussed in this article included 15 different issues. The first block of questionnaire called "Ontological". It describes the cosmological ideas of modern pagans. And to determine what the motive forces are important for worldview of neo-pagans. The first question was: "Do you think that the supreme principle - that," his aim was to identify that there is a Supreme Being modern polytheists.

The third question in the questionnaire was: "Do you think that the world is governed ...", it was directed out to establish which motive forces historical and social reality, allocate the representatives of of modern paganism.

The fourth survey question disclose the relation of fate and free will in the worldview of neo-pagans. The fifth survey question covered thanatological aspect in the neo-pagan’s worldview. The fifth question in the questionnaire covered thanatological aspect of neo-pagans in the outlook. Respondents were asked to answer the question of what awaits man after bodily death. It is worth noting that this matter has caused difficulty for the largest number of respondents, 15% (35 participants) midsummer festival took part in the survey were unable to give an answer.
